Industry
1. When electrolyzing sodium chloride aqueous solution, hydrogen and chlorine will be produced, and chlorine is widely used in chemical industry, which can be used to synthesize polyvinyl chloride, pesticides, hydrochloric acid, etc.
2. Sodium metal is prepared by Dangsi method: sodium metal is prepared by electrolytic fusion of a mixture of molten sodium chloride and calcium chloride. Calcium chloride is used as a flux to reduce the melting point of sodium chloride below 700°C. Calcium is not as reducible as sodium and does not introduce impurities.

2. Water containing 0.9% sodium chloride is called normal saline because it has the same osmotic pressure as plasma.
